As the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution continues to unfold, service providers and enterprises are preparing to meet its unique demands. Cisco Silicon One has been deployed with hyperscalers building AI data centers at an unprecedented scale. Today, we are announcing three new Cisco Silicon One processor families that extend the scalability, security, and programmability of Cisco Silicon One to new use cases and enable future-proofed, resilient networking for service providers and enterprises.
Expanding Silicon One-based systems to the edge of service provider metro networks
The new Silicon One A-series and K-series families are purpose-built for service provider access, edge and metro networks. Customers like Swisscom are deploying Cisco 8000 systems powered by the A-series and K-series for greater scale, functionality and efficiency deployed closer to end users. The Silicon One architecture enables these high-performance platforms to distribute edge functionality in more network places with consistent control and support from the silicon level. Together with new coherent pluggable optics, these Silicon One-based systems are the foundation of the new Agile Services Networking architecture to enable AI-ready connectivity at scale.
Redefining performance with Silicon One in enterprise data centers
The Silicon One E-series is designed for enterprise data center top-of-rack (ToR) and edge deployments. The E-series powers the new Cisco Nexus 9300 Smart Switches, enabling these next-generation switches to deliver high-speed connectivity, extensive telemetry, line-rate encryption, and energy efficiency. With the integration of Silicon One and AMD data processing units (DPUs), the Cisco Smart Switch intelligently offloads complex data processing tasks to unlock advanced networking and security capabilities.
Continuing to expand the reach of Silicon One
Cisco Silicon One is the only network silicon architecture that addresses use cases from access and core to data center and AI networks, without compromising efficiency, bandwidth, scale, or features. Today, Silicon One is used by five of the six top hyperscalers and powers over 40 Cisco platforms. With the introduction of the A-series, K-series, and E-series processor families, we have reached another milestone towards our goal of powering the end-to-end Cisco networking portfolio with the industry-leading scale, security, and programmability of Cisco Silicon One.
There is more exciting innovation to come. Stay tuned!
